According to survey results, technology needs aid in client-engagement, while also offering mobility and accuracy in documentation.
New survey data on the IT readiness of behavioral health providers for value-based reimbursement has recently been released from Remarkable Health, a developer of technology for behavioral health and I/DD service providers.
The survey results indicate that there are needs for preparedness, and the authors noted a discrepancy between the confidence in readiness for behavioral health providers and the actual IT progress towards readiness. Agencies that currently use traditional electronic health record (EHR) technology are seeing the need to upgrade to a more advanced system that allows for more client-clinician interaction and better documentation and billing. Mobility, in order to capture billing-ready service data, is becoming preferred, since many agencies reported the intention to expand their services in community- and home-based settings.
There was also a focus in documentation regarding client engagement and client interaction in their treatment, especially involving the technology’s ability to embrace a shift toward more client-focused work, regardless of whether the data is gathered in the field or on the client portal. Although there is an interest in moving towards successful value-based reimbursement process, the survey’s respondents identified serious gaps in IT capabilities and staff data capture capabilities as well as documentation workflow and time-to-bill conversions.
Remarkable Health will be releasing 2 new products for providers, aimed at client engagement and clinical-based business intelligence tools at the NATCON 2019. They include a mobile-friendly business intelligence dashboard, Remarkable Health Insights, which will make available A/R balance/aging, appointments authorization, claim status and more, and a client-facing mobile app, Remarkable.me, designed to reduce dropout and no-show rates by improving provider-client relationship with real-time engagement capabilities.
Remarkable Health will be attending the National Council on Behavioral Health's NatCon19 conference in Nashville, TN to speak on documentation and work-flow optimization to prepare for value-based payment models and upcoming industry changes.
