MinuteClinics Open Inside Target Stores in 3 States

Target-based retail clinics in Virginia, Illinois, and North Carolina have officially been converted to MinuteClinics.

Over the next few months, all Target clinic locations across the country will be rebranded as MinuteClinic under the terms of CVS Health’scompleted acquisitionof Target’s entire pharmacy and clinics businesses.

CVS Healthannounced on March 15, 2016, that the first MinuteClinic walk-in clinics located inside Target stores opened in North Carolina in 3 Charlotte-area stores in Charlotte and Concord, as well as 8 stores in The Triangle. They joined 30 additional MinuteClinic locations in the Charlotte area and 15 in the Raleigh-Durham area inside select CVS Pharmacy stores.

Then, on April 25, 2016, CVS Health announced that additional MinuteClinics have opened inside 13 Target stores located in Cook (including the city of Chicago), DuPage, Kane and Lake Counties, bringing the total number of MinuteClinic locations in Chicagoland to 56 and making Chicago the company’s largest metropolitan market in the United States.

Most recently, on May 4, 2016, CVS Health announced that more MinuteClinics opened inside 7 Target stores located in Northern Virginia, bringing the total number of MinuteClinic locations in Northern Virginia to 31 and the DC Metro area to 52, including clinics in CVS Pharmacy stores.

“The new MinuteClinic locations inside Target will offer the same scope of services available to patients at all our other clinics,” Andrew Sussman, MD, president of CVS MinuteClinic and executive vice president and associate chief medical officer of CVS Health, stated in both announcements. “In addition, some services will be new to Target guests, including treatment for minor sprains and strains, contraceptive care, smoking cessation counseling, and weight loss assessment and coaching.”

In addition to rebranding and converting Target clinics to MinuteClinics, CVS Health has also opened CVS Pharmacy locations inside Target stores in the following markets:

CVS Health will ultimately convert a total of 1672 Target pharmacies to CVS Pharmacy locations around the country.
