Love Your Heart This Valentine's Day

This Valentine’s Day, CVS Health MinuteClinic is offering free heart health screenings for men and women.

The “Know Your Numbers” screenings will be offered at more than 1100 locations nationwide from 10 am to 1 pm, according to apress release.

During the screenings, individuals will learn the following 5 key health numbers that help determine their risk of heart disease: total cholesterol, high-density lipoprotein, blood glucose, body mass index, and blood pressure.

The heart health screenings are inspired by CVS Health’s new 3-year sponsorship of the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women moment, a national campaign aimed to raise awareness for heart disease and stroke in women, as well as to empower women to take control of their own heart health, according to the release.

CVS Health has pledged to raise at least $10 million over the next 3 years to support cardiovascular education and research.

“Cardiovascular diseases kill nearly 1 in 3 women in the US each year,” said Angela Patterson, DNP, FNP-BC, NEA-BC, chief nurse practitioner officer at MinuteClinic. “It’s a daunting statistic and the reason MinuteClinic is pleased to offer these free screenings on Valentine’s Day. During thescreenings, patients will receive vital information about their health and will be counseled on ways to reduce their risk for heart disease and stroke. Most importantly, our providers will be arming them with the tools they need to take charge of their health.”
